Now you know your child is eligible, and you have chosen your preferred kindergarten, the next step is to register your child by completing an online Registration form.
You can register your child for kindergarten:
- any time to attend kindergarten this year
- between 1 June and 30 June to attend next year to receive a first round offer. If you’ve already expressed interest, you don’t need to do anything further – we’ll email you a link to register.
Please note, registrations are not given priority based on your submission date. Kindergarten places are allocated, based on priority of access guidelines, after the enrolment period has closed.
what do you need to register
You will need to upload the following documents as part of the registration process.
- Proof of birth (copy of birth certificate or passport)
- Health Care Card and/or Pension Card (if applicable)
You will also need:
- a current email address
- a mobile phone number
If you are enrolling more than one child, you will need to complete a separate registration form for each child.
After completing your registration, you will receive a confirmation email from CPSG.
TIPS: Submit your registration together with the required documentation before 30 June to ensure your registration is considered for first round offers. Please note, registrations cannot be processed until all information and supporting documentation is received.
CPSG continues to take registrations throughout the year. From October, offers will be made if vacancies exist.

REGISTRATION FAQS
In instances where more eligible children apply for a place at a service than there are places available, CPSG must prioritise children based on the Priority of Access criteria outlined in the Department of Education’s Kindergarten Funding Guide and work with other local kindergarten services and the regional Department office to ensure all eligible children have access to a kindergarten place.
Yes.
No. Most children will only be eligible for two years of funded kindergarten, so your child will transition from a three-year-old program to a four-year-old program.
This is why it is so important to choose the right time to start for your child.
A second year of funded four-year-old kindergarten may be considered when:
- your child is observed as having delays in at least two outcomes areas of learning and development (detailed in the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework) available at education.vic.gov.au; and
- there is evidence to suggest that the child will achieve better outcomes if he/she attends a third year of kindergarten to strengthen learning and development of skills in these areas and better facilitate transition to school the following year.
For further information, see:
Children can go to kindergarten when they’re six years old if they have a disability, developmental delay or it’s a special situation.
If your child will turn six before or while they’re in their first or second year of funded kindergarten, you must get an exemption from starting school.
For further information, see Going to kindergarten if your child is 6 years old.
If your child has additional needs, they may be eligible for funding for extra support at kindergarten. This may include additional training for staff, equipment specific to your child’s needs or an additional assistant being allocated to the group.
We encourage families to be open with us so we can support children to the best of our abilities. We are happy to work with external agencies your child may be working with to ensure a collaborative and consistent approach to their learning.
We encourage you to contact us at your earliest convenience to discuss your child’s specific needs.
If you register for next year after 30 June and your preferred kindergarten session has a vacancy, we may be able to offer you a place. If not, you will be placed on a waitlist.
Second round and subsequent offers will be sent from October onwards.
While every effort is made to allocate your first preference kindergarten, in some cases, CPSG receives more applications for a kindergarten than there are places available. Where this occurs, CPSG allocates in accordance with State Government Guidelines which prioritise access for children who are vulnerable, at risk, or have a disability. For all other places, CPSG’s priority of access criteria is are applied.
To make changes to your kindergarten preferences, please contact CPSG’s Enrolment Officer on 5579 5920 or email [email protected].
